Procrastination pays off

For the past few months, I've been dreaming and collecting for a big dining room makeover. I had grand plans that it would all be done in a flash, and forgot about the work involved. So when Melissa at the Inspired Room decided to throw a procrastination party, I was all over it. But I procrastinated and didn't sign up. But, my project was done in time to link to her finish, so here it is!
This is where I started. A nice dining room in a color that I love each fall but hate in the spring time and a too-small table that I've had since my first apartment after college. Not horrible, but not good. Certainly not the elegant formal dining room I had in mind.

So I've been scouring Craigslist for new furniture and managed to piece together some items with good bones. Let's focus on the pieces that I have finished and pay no attention to the china cabinet.

But then I got out the black spray paint...

And some cream fabric...
Middle chair

And help from a cute little dog...
Pudge with end chair

And before you know it, I had a new dining room set!

  7. Wow, those turned out gorgeous! Love how they are the perfect compliment to the rug. Stunning!

  8. Beautiful! I love the drama that the black paint adds.

  9. It's awesome to think that we, ourselves handle the transformation in every piece we planned.

    Congrats & job well done.

    Love it!

  10. LOVE IT!! Love the black!! Congrats it looks Wonderful!

  11. Oh the magic of spray paint. Looks fabulous!

  12. Looks great. Love the black! And what a cool rug.

  13. Wow, that looks great! Amazing what you accomplished. And I adore the rug, very fun! Glad you joined in!

  14. Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments, ladies.

For those who asked, the rug is a cheapy from Lowe's. I have pets, and I clean up more cat puke than I would like to admit, and therefore rugs in my house are cheap.

The wainscoting will be stripped and repainted white, and the upper walls will be Restoration Hardware's Linen. I think.

  15. Kate, thanks so much for coming and visiting my little blog. Yes I do have a Cricut. It is my favorite purchase ever. You can do so much with it, and I have definitely gotten my money's worth.

Love what you did with your Craigslist purchases. Don't you just love Craigslist. It is amazing what you can find there and for a super good price too. Can't wait to see what else you do. The room looks great, and I love the rug. Perfect.

    Come back soon.
